Frequently Asked Questions

Am I allowed to have more than one caregiver staying with me at a time?
No. Only the transplant guest and designated care provider are allowed overnight. However, your caregiver may change during the duration of your stay.  We ask that you notify our front desk.

Are meals provided or do guests make their own?
Transplant guests or their caregiver are expected to provide and make their own meals. Fully-equipped kitchens are available to guests 24 hours a day.  You may either bring your groceries or do your shopping once at Gift of Life Transplant House. Our staff or volunteers can recommend grocery stores or places for other shopping. One of the Rochester Walmart SuperStores offers a shuttle, facilitating transportation to “one stop shopping.”

If a guest’s stay requires being away from Rochester is their room held for them?
Rooms are held up to 2 days when a guest is away on a “physician approval pass.”  If a guest becomes hospitalized the caregiver is allowed to remain at Gift of Life as long as the transplant patient is undergoing treatment here in Rochester.

Do you have handicap accessible rooms?
Yes. In additions both our multi-room houses have an elevator as well.
