Amenities at Gift of Life

Kitchens
All kitchens are open to guests 24 hours a day, except during daily sanitizing.  Each is well-stocked with the standard kitchen supplies, including towels, pots, pans, plates, bowls, glassware, and utensils for both cooking and eating. Ample pantry, refrigerator, and freezer spaces are labeled with guest-room numbers, for your convenience and personal identification. Guests bring their own food and refrigerator-storage containers. A list of recommended items to bring upon check-in is provided when guests tour the House. We ask that guests thoroughly clean kitchen and dining room areas they have used and wash their dishes prior to using the sanitizer.

The 705 Judd house offers three separate kitchens with a designated sanitizing area and adjacent dining areas. The 724 house offers two complete state-of-the art kitchens separated by a central sanitizing area. One extended community dining room area lies adjacent to the kitchens and cleanup area.Guests will appreciate common areas with communal dining, kitchen spaces, an activity room, library, and living spaces in a homelike atmosphere, intended to facilitate the organ transplant rehabilitation process.

Laundry
Coin-operated washers and dryers and typical ironing and sewing supplies are available 24 hours a day in the designated guest laundry room in each of our two multi-room houses (guests in the Founders House need to do laundry in the main Judd house complex.) Guests bring their own detergent to wash provided bed linens and towels, as well as their clothing and any other personal items. A laundry basket is provided in each guest room. A dollar-bill change machine is located in each laundry room.

Recreation and Relaxation
No matter when you may stay at Gift of Life, there is something for everyone during every season. In warm-weather months, our patios and outdoor furniture make a nice setting in which to pass the time. During the winter, the gas-operated fireplaces in the main house living room and library create a cozy, picturesque setting for book reading and other relaxing pastimes. At our 724 house fireplaces add warmth and comfort during winter months, both on the main floor - in the shuttle waiting area and family lounge - as well as on the second floor in one of the TV lounges. This house also features a larger TV/game room with a large sun room off the south side which has proven a popular area where guests go to relax.

Both houses offer many common areas for enjoying time alone or time with other guests or visiting friends. We also provide billiards tables, hundreds of books, outdoor grills, dozens of homemade quilts, numerous televisions, VCRs, DVDs, pianos, pop machines, and the companionship of many friendly people. For children under the age of 17 visiting guests at Gift of Life, the 724 house offers a lovely family visiting room with adjacent patio and chairs.  This is open to guests staying in any of the Gift of Life rooms.

Throughout the year, we often receive free tickets to local attractions -- events at Mayo Civic Center, plays, concerts, sporting events and more.
