Gift of Life Transplant House

The 1911 Georgian colonial we purchased in 1994 has grown considerably in recent years. (See Beginnings for the history of our organization.) What began decades ago as the private residence for a family of seven (see History) now includes:

  • 48 guest rooms, each with a private bath;
  • Three modern kitchens;
  • Four spacious dining rooms;
  • Five dayrooms with televisions, VCRs, and more;
  • Personal computers with free Internet access; and
  • A children’s playroom with toys, a kid’s computer station, a television, and a VCR.*

The Founders House is a three bedroom L-shaped house directly adjacent to the main Gift of Life House and was renovated in 2006. (See Sharing the Gift Newsletter Fall 2005 issue for the history of the Founders House.) This house, built in 1914 has all the charm of a bed and breakfast with its beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows and can accommodate guests for short term stays. The Founders House includes:

    • 3 guest rooms;
    • 2 full and 1 half bathrooms;
    • kitchen and dining room;
    • 2 dayrooms with televisions, VCRs, and more;
    • Personal computers with free Internet access

Gift of Life is licensed by the state of Minnesota and Olmsted County Public Health Department.

* The children’s playroom is for use by pediatric patients staying at the House. Non-patient visitors under the age of 17 are not allowed to visit or stay at Gift of Life because most of our patients have suppressed immune systems.
